Anaemia, complications of a shared placenta, or a significant fluid collection do not all need the same treatment. The first discussion establishes the finding, gestational age, and whether a time-sensitive intervention should be considered.

Patients in Dubai can enter the diagnostic and referral pathway through Mediclinic. The team confirms the appropriate facility and appointment during triage. Fetal-therapy procedures are coordinated through the Abu Dhabi programme.

Before travelling, confirm whether your first visit is for imaging, counselling, diagnostic testing, or procedure assessment. These are different appointments and may need different preparation.

UAE-wide referral access

Your city is the starting point, not a barrier to asking.

Families in Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, and other UAE cities can start with the same self-referral route. Include your city and a brief concern; the team will clarify urgency and the appropriate assessment location before travel.

Referral access does not mean a clinic or procedure service is located in every city. Care location depends on the clinical need and the programme’s facilities.

Have the most recent ultrasound report and the reason for concern available. The team may request original images, Doppler results, twin chorionicity, or selected blood and genetic tests. Do not arrange travel for a procedure before the destination and plan are confirmed.

Confirm the named clinician, appointment time, insurance or pre-authorisation, and any preparation with the hospital. General hospital opening hours are not the MFM clinic schedule.
